Spyware is the most common problem PC users are facing today. Although Spyware is typically not as damaging to your computer as viruses, there are some varieties of spyware that are very damaging to you. With this in mind, DTS recommends taking some simple precautions to avoid spyware.

Spyware- any program that gathers information from your computer. After gathering the information, the spyware usually commuicates the information to its sponsor on the internet
Adware- program that 'delivers' advertising popups on your computer (often combined with a spyware type of program to tailor the ads to your surfing habits)
Hijackers- browser 'addons' (usually without your permission) that redirect you to their sponsored sites when a search is done
Cookies- small files that keep information about you for future logins at a particular website
